FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nippon Paper Chemicals Co., Ltd. (Head Office: 1-2-2 Hitotsubashi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masami Yamaki) will install a new coater at its Higashimatsuyama Mill (located in Higashimatsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan), the principal manufacturing facility for NPC's film coating business. This will bring to 4 the total number of LCD optical film coaters at Higashimatsuyama, resulting in a significant increase in production capacity.

The new coater will be added partly to meet increasing demand from laptop computer manufacturers for the LCD optical film produced at the Higashimatsuyama Mill. However, NPC has developed a new film for TV usage, and the decision to increase capacity was also made with a view to expanding sales of this new product.

The total capital investment connected with this installation is 2.2 billion yen. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2011.
