Nippon Paper Chemicals has completed the installation, begun in May 2007, of a coal-fired boiler at its Gotsu Mill (located in Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan). This new boiler is now in full operation, replacing two oil-fired boilers and reducing energy costs. The decision to switch to coal, expected to cut the fuel oil bill by 85%, was prompted by the sharp rise in the cost of oil, which has had a significant impact on profitability.
