NPC’s Higashimatsuyama Works (located in Higashimatsuyama, Saitama; General Manager: Norio Yabe) has recently implemented a project to convert its boilers to run on natural gas. A contract has been concluded with Bushu Gas (based in Kawagoe, Saitama) for the supply of gas.

This switch from using heavy oil will reduce CO2 emissions by 900 tons/year. The conversion was subsidized by METI (Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) under a scheme designed to encourage energy-intensive facilities to convert to natural gas.

One of the main products manufactured at Higashimatsuyama is optical film for use in laptop computers and LCD displays. NPC is committed to an environmentally aware approach to manufacturing and will continue to look for ways to enhance energy efficiency in its operations as part of its ongoing efforts to prevent global warming.
