On October 1, 2012, Nippon Paper Chemicals Co., Ltd., merged with Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd., Nippon Daishowa Paperboard Co., Ltd., and Nippon Paper-Pak Co., Ltd., becoming the new Chemical Division of Nippon Paper Industries.
